A mammoth festival anthem

Promising an eclectic cocktail of driving tempos, infectious chorus lines and Glaswegian grit, East Kilbride quartet Declan Welsh & The Decadent West have released their latest single ‘Talking To Myself’ today.

Nobody in today’s indie scene radiates with quite the same energy, rebellious flair and swaggering confidence as Glasgow’s modern-day punks Declan Welsh & The Decadent West. Championed by the likes of bands such as The Proclaimers, Ocean Colour Scene and Eddi Reader, the quartet are living up to their heroes’ success, forming a musical revolution with their impeccable instrumental talents and innovative lyrics that offer nothing short of food-for-thought.

Following the announcement of a new EP entitled ‘It’s Been A Year’ due in September this year, the third single from the EP ‘Talking To Myself’, is certainly going to be a crowd-pleaser.

Armed with the same musical maturity as bands way ahead of their time, their latest singe encapsulates the idea of internal conversations we have with ourselves, as well as the time we spend fixated with our own heads. Something that the band never fail to achieve is audience relatability – Declan Welsh often says the things listeners may be thinking but fail to say out-loud.

Though this is perhaps not the usual activist approach that fans of the quartet may expect, the single’s accessibility and undeniably fun style is exactly what listeners crave as gigs return. Bringing back the sounds of '90s icons such as Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight, Shed Seven and Ash, listening to their new release conjures up images of lairy lads crowd surfing and bucket hats flying around a festival crowd – something we can all agree we have missed!
