More about: Sam Fender
Sam Fender has released ‘Aye’, another track from his highly anticipated new album Seventeen Going Under, which will arrive 8 October – and it might be his angriest song to date.
Following on from his wonderfully punky B-side ‘Howdon Aldi Death Queue’, it seems that Fender isn’t straying too far from heavier sounds and lyrics. ‘Aye’ is a defiant battle cry against the 1% and the political battleground we find ourselves living in. Although it seems to be one of the only overtly political songs on the new album, ‘Aye’ proves that it’s something Sam Fender is very good at.

Where other artists hide their statements in metaphor, Sam Fender isn’t afraid to name and shame. This is how he described the new single:
“Aye is about the polarity between the left and the right wing, and how that leaves working class people displaced with a lack of political identity, playing into the hands of the 1%. It’s also a rant about my disdain for the greedy tax dodging billionaires of the world”.
