More about: AIM Awards
Last night, the Independent Music AIM Awards took place. Virtual for the second year running, the awards featured performances from nominees Lava La Rue, Working Men's Club and Enny.
Surprising no-one, Arlo Parks lead the way for wins, though ENNY also took home two prestigious awards: Best Independent Track for her hit 'Peng Black Girls' and the One To Watch Award.
Joan Armatrading, meanwhile, took home the Outstanding Achievement Award, for which she made a rare appearance. In a satisfyingly humble and humorous acceptance speech, she said: "very often you hear people saying that they don’t like awards because awards are meaningless, but I think mostly, they’re the people who haven’t been given an award".
