Ontario twins Softcult are at the top of their game in their brand new single ‘BWBB’, out today. Along with the empowering new song, the duo announced their second EP, Year of The Snake, set for release 8 February 2022 on Easy Life Records.

Today we hear Softcult take on widespread violence against women and the too frequently used ‘boys will be boys’ excuse. The music video sees them stand up, equipped with baseball bats and razor-sharp lyrics to show that they’re here to fight. Musically, ‘BWBB’ is one of their heavier singles, further proof that Softcult can expertly master anything from dream-pop to riot grrrl punk. Embodying fear and rage at the same time, ‘BWBB’ is a must-listen.

The band explained the song here:

“We wrote Boys Will Be Boys about gender violence and the double standard, hypocrisy and dissonance of the ‘bro code’. Covering up for your buddies after they’ve assaulted someone creates a dangerous environment, especially for women. All of us need to be allies in this fight against gender violence and hold our circles accountable. The line “if there’s one in your company, I wonder when they’re gonna come for me” sums it up pretty well.”

Year of The Snake EP arrives 4 February 2022.
