More about:

Sick Joy have returned with the exhilarating, punk-charged 'belly aching beast'. The track features Jamie Lenman on guest vocals and is at once visceral and infectious, an explosive statement of intent balanced with honesty and emotional nuance.

As a live act, Sick Joy are renowned for a show that gives fans everything. With its punchy yet unhinged drums and feverish breakdown, 'belly aching beast' will be the track that sends pints flying. The band possess an uncanny talent for melody and—true to form—the track is also a guaranteed earworm, with the chorus lifting the song out of its hurricane ferocity for a moment of honest introspection before plunging back in.

Despite its savage energy and brutal sonic pallet, 'Belly Aching Beast' also has a peculiar flavour of optimism—the kind that’s fearless and uncompromising. Reflecting the inner monologue everyone endures between ‘you’re a failure’ and ‘you can do this,’  'Belly Aching Beast' lands on the latter. As Barton and Lenman scream in unison: "I’ve got it all and fucking nothing stops me."

The track is about moving through difficult times and maintaining perspective. Singer-guitarist Mykl Barton explains: “Ask yourself, ‘why do I feel like this?’ Don't just don't own the feeling. Don't become sadness, don't become anger or jealousy. Do the things you want to do. Don't let fear decide where you're going and what you can or can’t do.”

Sick Joy embark on a full UK headline tour in March, and join Dinosaur Pile-up at London’s Kentish Town Forum. Tickets.
