Manchester’s cruush are announcing themselves as a powerful voice in shoegaze with their new single ‘False Start’, out today. Fans of Just Mustard, NewDad and co. will certainly be into this one. Perfectly capturing a feeling of widespread anxiety, ‘False Start’ is a particularly impressive outing.

The new single is instantly intoxicating, with immense musical detail that evokes the feeling that all is not well. Their combination of grungy pop and punchy industrial elements means you never know what’s coming next. The band explained the sonic reasoning behind ‘False Start’:

“Sonically the track reflects everything falling apart around you in a country where anxiety and disillusion are escalating, and there seems to be a complete lack of compassion and thought. That constant 5/4 guitar starting the track off and running in the background throughout as the rest of the song plays in 4/4 mirrors the sense of things not seeming right that you can’t shake out of your head. This also lends the track its name 'False Start' as the drums don't drop in where you'd expect”
