It all starts steady. A low bassy hum and the occasional hit of brass. It promises memories of ska as we transition into a calm verse. TOUTS welcome us into a false sense of security in their new single ‘Old Man’s Land’ which ends with a proper punch of up-tempo indie funk that will leave you craving the confides of a live venue.
The new single comes out ahead of the bands first full UK tour in four years, which will see them travel to the likes of Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, London and more. Despite not having a full UK tour for a while, the band are definitely still battle ready coming off the back of support slots with The Specials and Paul Weller.
Excited for the tour and keen to talk about the new single, TOUTS front man Matthew Crossan said, “Old Man’s Land is about youth and innocence that was stolen in the past,” before continuing, “the result that has on people today can be observed in many places at many times across our land. It draws influence from old Irish balladeers and the romanticism of their songs. It attempts to pick up the narration and story from where they left off.”
One listen to this new single is enough to convince you to check out TOUTS on their UK tour as whilst such a full sound is great with just earphones, the combo of the brass, guitar and upbeat vocals begs for the live experience.
TOUTS new single ‘Old Man’s Land’ and tickets for their tour are both available now!
