More about: Blondshell
The big day has come - Blondshell has announced her debut album. Following the swift blow up on ‘Kiss City’, the singer stormed ones to watch lists thanks to her Courtney-love-meets-Phoebe-Bridgers brand of sharp, rock storytelling. A handful of perfect tracks later, her self titled debut will be with us April 7th.
And if that announcement wasn’t enough, we’ve been gifted a new track to add to the collection. Continuing the pop culture take down of latest single ‘Veronica Mars’, ‘Joiner’ is an anthem for all of us raised online or in front of TV sets, slowly developing saviour complexes. Splintering off from what we’ve come to expect from Blondshell, ‘Joiner’ disturbs the pattern of the slow build to a big finish, instead swimming in more classic indie pools with a steady acoustic guitar foundation.
Talking about the track, Blondshell (aka Sabrina Teitelbaum), said: “I was listening to a lot of Britpop when I wrote this song. A lot of those bands like The Verve, Pulp, Suede, and Blur channelled dark subject matter, drugs, and all this dirty stuff, but with a fun acoustic guitar under it. I was listening to The Replacements, too. That’s what this song was inspired by sonically. I wanted it to feel like you’re watching HBO, where even though it’s heavy, it’s still a good time.”
A perfect track to see us through until April, Blondshell just became one of our most anticipated releases of the year.
