10 years of Speedy Wunderground. What does it mean? Well, when you have a look at the current music scene and consider which acts are considered some of the most innovative and exciting out there, it means a great deal.

Speedy Wunderground is comprised of the crack team of Dan Carey, Alexis Smith and Pierre Hall. In the 10 years that they have been releasing music, Speedy Wunderground have been widely considered as one of the most prominent forces in modern music. In recent years they have been awarded ‘Best Small Label’ at the AIM Awards and Dan Carey picked up ‘UK Producer of The Year’ at the Music Producer Guild Awards. But don’t just look at their awards, the music they’ve produced speaks a lot louder than any accolade ever could.

It's all well and good hearing an album or seeing an established artist and thinking they are good, but to hear someone when they are still developing as a creative and recognising the potential there is a whole different craft. It’s something the music industry relies on and something Speedy have been doing for the past decade.

They have released the debut singles for who are now widely considered to be some of the best artists in the UK. These include the likes of Squid, Black Country, New Road, Loyle Carner, black midi, The Lounge Society and Kae Tempest. “The label has become genuinely prestigious. It is not ridiculous to wonder whether one day it will be looked back upon with the same reverence as labels like Factory, Sarah, Zoo or Creation receive today.”

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary, Speedy Wunderground are going to be throwing a party and releasing a limited edition boxset called “The Dubs – Vol. 1”. The Dubs will be released on August 4th with the party taking place just over a month later on September 16th.

The track list on display really is a flex of talent, with some of the prestigious names Speedy have worked with making it up. The party is set to be just as entertaining too, with 7 hours’ worth of Speedy past, present and future gracing the event but with the line-up being kept under wraps until closer to the time.

Speedy Wunderground have done a lot for UK music and as such, it only seems fitting to have a celebration that acknowledges as much. So, here’s to September. September, and the next ten years.
