More about: Lisa Marini
The past of a musician often contributes towards the art that they go on to produce and the life of Lisa Marini contributes massively towards her work and can be heard in the new album ‘Buried Town’. She was living on the streets at the age of 12, involved in a drug raid at 15 and now, completely sober, buried stories surface to produce this monumental piece of music.
The album consists of 10 songs, each of which is slow and epic, bursting with narrative and each with an exciting atmosphere. It’s a real piece of Marini as she was involved in every single aspect of the album, including the writing, the production, performance and the recording of the album.
“Half of the songs on this album are a celebration to creative energy,” said Lisa, “and the other half are songs about being taken away from said energy and the search to find my way back to it.”
The album came out on 21st April with the lead single being ‘One Stop From Land’. The track starts with a cool drum beat and a trickling plucking guitar sound. Lisa manages to add to it with her haunting vocals. The overall mix isn’t the best as some effects drowned out other parts of the production but overall, the complexity of the song and the way that different components come together is very impressive and an excellent reflection of the whole album.
