We’ll say it loud and proud - we are CMAT stans. It's basically a requirement to get in the door at Gigwise, you have to sing a little CMAT song. And with the release of new track ‘Have Fun!’, we’ve got a new favourite ditty.

Blessing our cloudy Thursday with the best news ever - a new CMAT album is on the way. Crazymad, For Me will arrive October 13th and there’s sure to be lots to tide us over until then. If ‘Have Fun!’ is anything to go off, we can expect the same CMAT silliness, tackling topics like the housing crisis or heartbreak with the same characteristic wit. But levelling up the instrumental to a more matured and polished sound, the Irish fiddle licks and solid piano sound so good here.

Talking about the track, CMAT said: “This is a song about ring necked parakeets that are wild in London, but it is also a song about getting over a breakup and moving on from an emotional stalemate even when you don’t, or can’t, forgive the other person’s actions. I suppose it is a song about how things in life are never satisfying, and don’t make sense, but they exist anyway and we have to make the best of it. And have fun!”

And if the news of an album and a new track wasn’t enough - there’s also a tour! Hitting the road in November to play her biggest shows yet, including a date at Shepherds Bush Empire and two nights at Dublin’s Olympia - you’ll catch us there.
