In a seemingly shocking outburst, Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan labelled all American girls as sluts during the band’s headline Reading performance.
The bald singer made the comments when stage cameras turned their attention on the audience, showing a barely dressed woman in the crowd.
With his tongue in his cheek, Corgan said: “There’s something about a girl willing to take her clothes off so quickly. American girls are sluts too.”
As the NME quotes, he finished: “See isn’t it great to be alternative? You can say all these things.”
The Pumpkins wowed the crowd with a 90 minute set on Sunday evening, which included the classics ‘1979’ and ‘Tonight, Tonight.’
