Wyclef Jean has used his first visit to Haiti since being made roving ambassador to offer his support to the country’s children.

Jean has pledged to provide football training and computer facilities, as well as offer counselling for jailed child gang members.

The US rapper, who was born in the country, will finance the youth projects through his charity, Yele-Haiti.

"If you want to change a country, unfortunately, you're not going to be able to help eight million people at one time," he told AP. "But if you can get one or two or three and start to make that change, that will make the difference."

Jean was made roving ambassador by the country’s President earlier this year.

He has also said that he will target US politicians in his bid to help reform the country.

"I'm always going to assist my country in the best way I can," Jean said.
