To celebrate his 50th birthday and 30th year in music, the legend that is Gary Numan took part in a Gigwise Q & A session with his fans last week, where he talked about music, sex and samurai fighting (of course).
Hundreds of questions were submitted to Gary, but unfortunately we had to whittle down these to a final 20. An unerring question that came up though was why he doesn’t tour more in America.
Due to a lack of solid financial support, Numan has been unable to tour as much in the US as he and his fans would wish, and one suggested that he should approach his kindred spirit Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails for a support slot.
Gary commented: "Great idea but you don't just walk up to Trent Reznor and say 'I'm going to support you on your next tour'. There is far more to it than that."
Expressing his disappointment at the lack of exposure he’s received in the States, Numan continued: “It has been a constant disappointment to me over the years and somewhat demoralising at times.
“I can't think of anything fans can do other than continue to spread the word as best they can and for that I will always be grateful. But we fight on and continue to look for opportunities and labels that could help get the music to the ears of as many people as possible."
Come on Trent, you can make the tour happen…
