  • Slipknot completed their three-night London residency last night in front of the “loudest fucking crowd of the tour.”

Entering to the sound of 5,000 people chanting “Slipknot! Slipknot!”, a solitary beam of light shone on drummer Joey Jordison who ominously held his tree-like fingers aloft beckoning the start.

The screen raised and pummels of dry ice shrouded the stage before a massive pyrotechnics blast signalled the brutal opening track 'Surfacing'.

The masked metal outfit were on blistering from the offset, with singer Joey Jordison taunting the crowd after the set opener by shouting “You better wake the fuck up you little bitches!” before mass mosh-pits erupted.

The huge blasts of flames provided a dramatic backdrop while Corey commanded the centre of the stage. As always the band members were energetic throughout - Sid Wilson bounded around scaling speakers and the levitating drum kits, Sean 'Clown' Crahan jumped to stage front and taunted the crowd, while Chris Fehn even masturbated his nose.

Before launching into a raucous 'Psychosocial', Corey told the fans: “Not only has this been the loudest of the three nights (In London), it's also been the loudest of the fucking European tour!”

As well as tracks from their 2008 album 'All Hope Is Gone', the Iowa powered through tracks from their nine year back catalogue including 'Prosthetics' from their eponymous debut, 'People = Shit' from 'Iowa' and 'The Blister Exists from 'Vol 3 (The Subliminal Verses).

Despite their horror exterior, the band were highly appreciative of the support. Towards the end of the set, Corey brought out the platinum disc for their debut album and the gold disc for 'All Hope Is Gone'. He told the sell-out crowd “You can take all the fucking Grammys, this is what it's all about!” while holding the discs aloft.

The gig came to a climax during the encore with Joey Jordison's drum kit raising and rotating almost 360 degrees while he continued playing.
