Saint Etienne have launched a bid to write the official song for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Singer Sarah Cracknell told the BBC they’re affinity with London would make them the “ideal band” to record a soundtrack for the sporting spectacle.
Saint Etienne’s Bob Stanley added that he would “love to do it. I'll drop Seb Coe a line, I'll send him an e-mail today."
Both Saint Etienne’s music and lyrics have always been empathetic towards London.
The band shot a film in 2005 about the capital’s Lower Lea Valley, which will be the site for the Olympic stadium.
Stanley said they had been asked to show the film, which originally debuted at the Barbican, in the run up to the Games.
But the plans were scraped after Boris Johnson took over from Ken Livingstone as Mayor of London.
