- More Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson made a surprise appearance in Los Angeles yesterday (March 12th), as fans around the world scrambled to get tickets to his comeback gigs.
The star, who relocated to LA in December, was mobbed by supporters as he visited the Soap Plant / Wacko outlet in East Hollywood.
Jackson, who was dressed in all black and had a surgical mask covering his face, stopped to greet fans and sign autographs.
As previously reported on Gigwise, the final few tickets for the singer's comeback residency at the O2 Arena in London went on sale this morning (March 13th). They have now sold out.
Jackson was forced to extend his original ten shows, which begin on July 8th, to fifty after more than a million people registered for tickets.
The self-proclaimed King of Pop is believed to have begun rehearsing for the shows in Los Angeles.
Yesterday, a British newspaper claimed to have a copy of Jackson's setlist, which the singer said would include the “songs my fans want to hear”.
Jackson, now 50, has not performed a full concert since he was cleared of child molestation charges in 2005. His last full tour, entitled HIStory, took place in 1996 and '97.
In total, the singer is expected to earn upwards of $400m for his comeback, which also includes a 3D filmdeal.
