Michael Jackson has dominated this week’s album and singles charts following his sudden death on Thursday.
The singer’s greatest hits compilation ‘Number Ones’ is top of the album chart, while four others, including ‘Thriller’, are inside the top-20.
Two other Jackson albums have nestled inside the top-75, while a total of eleven are in the top-200.
The singer, known to his fans as the King of Pop, has also taken control of the Official Singles Chart, with ‘Man In The Mirror’ the highest entry at number eleven.
Other singles inside the top-30 include ‘Thriller’, ‘Billie Jean’, ‘Beat It’ and ‘Smooth Criminal’.
In total, 43 of the top-200 positions on the singles chart are songs by – or featuring – Jackson.
The singer accounts for over 300,000 record sales – across singles and albums – in just two days this week.
There has been a huge surge in sales for Jackson’s music as people look to re-discover – and in some cases, discover – the musical legacy of the King of Pop.
Elsewhere, singer La Roux has topped the UK singles chart with ‘Bulletproof’ – the second song of her forthcoming debut album.
