A friend claims...

Michael Jackson's three children have been described as “his life” by a long-term friend of the late singer.

Jackson faced constant criticism over his treatment of Prince Michael,12, Paris Katherine, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II during his lifetime.

The children were often pictured in public wearing masks and led a notoriously secretive lifestyle.

But in an interview with Life & Style, Dieter Wiesner, who managed Jackson at the height of his fame, defended the star's treatment of his children.

"Prince I, Paris and Prince II were his life," Wiesner said. "He made breakfast for them - a lot of people don't know this side of Michael."

Family friend Stephen Price told Us Weekly: "They are the greatest kids you'll ever meet. They didn't act like they had silver spoons in their mouths. They are nice and not Hollywood brats.”

Jackson's children appeared unmasked at the star's public memorial in Los Angeles on Tuesday, where Paris described the singer “as the best father you could ever imagine”.

The high-profile outing has increased speculation over the children's future.

In his will, Jackson named his mother, Katherine, as guardian. But Debbie Rowe, his former wife and mother of Prince Michael I and Paris, is thought to be considering filing for custody.

Meanwhile, an article in the New York Post today claims Jackson's children, who never attended school, were often given privileged late-night access to stores around the world.

But, the newspaper claims, Jackson was also a conscientious father. "He wasn't a disciplinarian but he didn't let the kids run the roost or be spoiled rotten," Stuart Backerman said.

Jackson died on June 25 following a suspected heart attack at his rented home in Los Angeles. He was 50.

  • Its very simple Che. People love you when you are gone. Many people sat on the sidelines watching, as the media blasted and tore him down relentlessly; if they did not join in themselves. Now that he's gone people are beginning to realize and appreciate how great a man, entertainer and humanitarian he was. We lost such a great person and talent. I've always defended and believed in MJ. Too bad I never had a public voice.
