Kanye West has paid tribute to the late Alexander McQueen, describing the fashion designer as an “icon”.
McQueen was found dead at his home in Central London this morning.
Unconfirmed reports claim the 40-year-old – who was widely regarded as one of the most influential names in fashion – committed suicide.
In a post on his blog, West wrote: “MCQUEEN... SO DEVASTATING.. HE WAS A GENIUS...
“HE WAS SO IMPORTANT AND SPECIAL.... WE LOST AN ANGEL!”
The rapper, who has been closely linked with the fashion world, is the latest music star to voice his sadness over McQueen’s death.
Katy Perry said: “Rest In Peace Alexander McQueen. Just woke up, so sad. ☹”
Estelle, Paloma Faith and Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden have also spoken about the designer’s death.
McQueen's eye-catching designs were a familiar sight in the music world, with Rihanna, Lady GaGa and Bjork among his high-profile fans.
