Muse are to be awarded the Silver Clef award, it's been announced.

The band, who turned down the prize in 2009, said they were “very proud” to be joining previous recipients, who include The Who.

They will collect the accolade at a ceremony in London on July 2 – less than a week after headlining the Glastonbury festival.

This year's awards ceremony, which helps to raise money for the music therapy Nordoff Robbins, will be hosted by Sharon Osbourne.
