Whitney Houston has been criticised by fans following her first UK show in 11 years last night (April 13).

The veteran singer’s performance at Birmingham’s LG Arena has been described as “awful” and a “terrible disaster” by concertgoers.

The opening date on Houston’s UK tour featured a series of costume changes, one of which lasted for 15 minutes.

One fan, Bing, who paid £200 for two tickets, told Gigwise Houston “missed lots of high notes” and “sounded out of breath”.

“Waste of money and v disappointing,” Bing added.

Another concertgoer, Steph Fairlie, said: “Such a shame this diva has lost her mojo it was a long way from her starlet days. A lot of money for a total disaster.”

Dave said the concert was “the worst live gig I have ever been to” and that he intended to seek a refund.

But Partygirl praised Houston’s performance, and said: “There was one problem waiting around but apart from that she did great. Even though her throat was a bit sore worth the money!!!!”

Houston’s UK tour had been due to begin last week in Manchester, but illness forced three gigs to be postponed.

The 46-year-old singer, who had respiratory problems, told the crowd last night that she was “feeling pretty good with myself”.

Houston’s performance in Birmingham also attracted a mixed reaction from critics.
