Cirque du Soleil have announced they are staging a live touring show featuring the songs of Michael Jackson.
The King of Pop will follow in the footsteps of The Beatles and Elvis Presley when the Montreal-based acrobatic troupe go on tour in late 2011.
Following the tour, Cirque du Soleil will take up residency in Las Vegas in 2012 with the Michael Jackson show.
Fully sanctioned by the Jackson family, Michael's mother Katherine commented: "Our family is thrilled that Cirque du Soleil will pay tribute to my son in such an important way.”
The family will co-fund the production and will split profits 50/50 with Cirque du Soleil.
John Branca, co-executor of the Jackson estate, said: "Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan.
“We are excited to be partners with Cirque du Soleil to give Michael's fans a truly unique way to hear, see and feel Michael's music."
A spokesperson for Cirque du Soleil added: "Fans will experience the excitement of a Michael Jackson concert."
