The Cribs' Ryan Jarman has said he's concerned that albums are becoming less important to some musicians.
In an interview with Gigwise, the singer and guitarist said the album format was still a valuable way of exposing fans to different songs.
“I think that the album form is so important because you get songs that would just never be released as a standalone track or that people wouldn't download because it has to be heard in context,” he said.
“That's why I think it's such a shame that that format might be on its way out. People are actually actively trying to kill it off in some ways, and that's a real shame.”

The Cribs' last studio album 'Ignore The Ignorant' came out in 2009 and last month they released the one-off single 'Housewife' for fans.
The track continues the band's tradition of releasing new material between albums.
“We always do standalone singles in between records, but we don't do that because they don't fit on the record,” Jarman said.
“We do it because we don't just want to milk the album and continue to release songs from it. I always think that that is a bit gratuitous.”
The Cribs are currently taking a break before beginning work on their next album.
