As Beatles fans around the world prepare to celebrate what would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday, Gigwise has taken a look at the influence the Liverpool band has had on music.
From their formation in 1960, the group were heralded as avant-garde musicians, creating sounds that other musicians hadn’t even dreamt of.
Consequently, almost everything that has come since has found itself labeled with the tag ‘Beatlesesque’ - from Oasis to David Bowie and from Sir Elton John to The Libertines.
So as the world prepares to mark Lennon’s 70th on October 9, check out our tribute to The Beatles legacy below.

Oasis - Arguably the band most indebted to the Fab Four, Oasis’s Lennon influences run from their music to their stage set-up (former drummer Zac Starkey is the son of The Beatles’ Ringo Star).
