Beady Eye’s first ever live gig has received a mixed reception from critics.
The band, fronted by Liam Gallagher and containing the rest of Oasis minus his brother Noel, played the first of two shows at Glasgow Barrowlands last night (March 3).
As promised, the group played no Oasis hits, instead choosing to focus on their debut album ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’.
The Guardian praised Beady Eye’s energy, but noted that “you can’t always say the same about the songs”.
The Independent also highlighted how the band sounded “encouragingly refreshed” compared to their final years in Oasis.
“This is a band to stick with through enjoyment more than force of habit,” the review concluded.
The Herald Scotland said the band were “welcomed like long lost brothers”, and that the songs ‘The Roller’ and ‘For Anyone’ were highlights.
Beady Eye perform at Barrowlands again tonight (March 4), before touring. For more details, check out Gigwise Gig Tickets.
