Lady Gaga has become the first person to reach 9 million followers on Twitter.

The singer, who only started Tweeting in 2008, has now overtaken Justin Bieber and Britney Spears as the most followed person on Twitter.

Justin Bieber currently has 8.3 million followers, with Britney Spears in third position, Barak Obama and Kim Kardashian.

Gaga recently Tweeted a picture of her and rocker Alice Cooper backstage on her Monster Ball tour.

Lady Gaga also has 31 million fans on Facebook and her videos have had more than a billion views on YouTube.

Meanwhile, 50 Cent posted a series of messages on Twitter poking fun at the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
