Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has revealed that the band have hidden pieces of the original master tape for their new album 'Wasting Light' inside CD copies of the record.
The band recorded the album, which was released this week and is expected to top the UK album chart, using analogue techniques with Nirvana producer Butch Vig.
Grohl told LA Weekly the band decided to cut up the original master tape into pioeces and give it to fans to preserve.
Asked a lucky fan would hear anything on the tape, Grohl said: “They'd probably get one note, or one drumbeat. I mean, the pieces of tape are like an inch by an inch piece of tape.
“We chop it up into a million f*cking pieces...if a million people got together and put it back together, they'd get a whole album.”
'Wasting Light' is the band's seventh studio album.
