U2 To Perform On American Idol Season Finale

U2 will perform on the American Idol finale, it has been announced.

The band, who won the Top Touring Artist Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards last night (May 22), will perform at the season finale on Wednesday.

U2's longtime manager, Paul McGuinness, revealed to Billboard that the band are currently rehearsing for the performance this week.

''Some of the greatest music is made so quietly, and you can make classic albums in your bedroom and you can play the greatest show of your life on a one-string guitar - but we don't do that,'' frontman Bono said after collecting the award.

Other winners at the Billboard Awards included Lady Gaga, who was named Top Pop Artist and Top Dance Artist, and Taylor Swift, who walked away with the Top Album prize.

Billboard Music Awards 2011
