Manic Street Preachers' Nicky Wire Hits Out At Royal Family

Manic Street Preachers' Nicky Wire hit out at the Royal family during their gig at the iTunes festival last night (June 3).

The bassist told the audience: “We were gonna take a year off from touring altogether next year but we are gonna do one gig just to avoid the Diamond Jubilee. I mean, how f*cking saturated have we been with the Royal Family this year? So there’ll be one gig, just to avoid having to listen to Prince Philip for an hour.”

Manic Street Preachers' set included 'You Stole The Sun From My Heart' and 'A Design For Life'.

The iTunes festival line-up already includes Coldplay, Kasabian, Manic Street Preachers, Beady Eye, Foo Fighters, James Morrison, Friendly Fires, Adele, Duran Duran, Linkin Park, White Lies, Noah And The Whale and Rumer.

In previous years, the iTunes festival has featured performances from the likes of Oasis, Biffy Clyro and Scissor Sisters.

Details about more acts due to play this year’s festival will be announced in the coming months. Check out itunesfestival.com for more.
