New Order have announced details of two benefit gigs, which are set to take place in Europe later this year.
The band will perform in Brussels on October 17 and Paris on October 18 in aid of their friend Michael Shamberg.
Shamberg - who produced several of New Order’s music videos, including the Brit Award winning 'True Faith' and 'Regret' - has been struggling with a debilitating illness since 2005.
New Order's line-up will feature Stephen Morris and Bernard Sumner, but no Peter Hook, who left in 2007. Gillian Gilbert and Tom Chapman complete the line-up.
Sumner said: “Michael has been with us from the very start, initially he was in charge of Factory New York, then became creative producer for all our early videos.
“he brought our attention to the early works of Directors such as Kathryn Bigelow, Gina Birch, Robert Breer, Peter Care, Phillipe Decouffle, Jonathan Demme, Robert Frank, Paula Greiff, Robert Longo, Bailie Walsh & William Wegman.
“Michael is very ill and needs constant medical attention. We want to help him, and these shows will contribute financial support towards his ongoing care.”
The two gigs will mark New Order's first live shows since 2005. It is not clear whether there are any plans for New Order to perform in the UK.
