Given her propensity for raucous cackling, it's mightily impressive that Adele managed to keep the straightest of straight faces while pranking staff at a juice bar. Watch the actually quite brilliant prank below.
During her appearance on The Ellen Show, Adele was sent into a Jamba Juice (it's an American juice bar) with a hidden earpiece and a handbag filled with strange items. Her first strange request, fed to her by DeGeneres, was, "I'll have a large, but can I have it in a small cup?"
Things only got more weird from there. At one point Adele brought a pair of scissors from her bag, snipped off a clump of the bar's wheatgrass and began chomping handfuls of it. Later, she asked if she would have to pay despite being a celebrity, before tipping the entire contents of her handbag onto the counter.
It was surely a more enjoyable TV experience for Adele than her recent Grammys performance, during which she battled technical difficulties after a microphone fell onto the piano strings.
"It put the whole thing off really," she told Ellen. "I heard it straight away, and I knew what it was, because in rehearsals they double miced the piano just in case one of them doesn't work. And I knew where the mic was and I wanted to turn around and lift it up but I froze. In the room they sorted the problem, and I'm always a bit pitchy anyway. It's emotion."
"I was embarrassed, and I woke up the next morning to people in England going, 'We still love you, don't worry', and I was like, 'I didn't ask you if you still loved me but thanks!' I was so embarrassed. I cried pretty much all day."
