Example has helped deliver a petition to help prevent the Ministry of Sound superclub from possible closure.

The club's future has been cast into doubt over plans to build a development of luxury flats near its home on Gaunt Street, London.

Ministry Of Sound has voiced concerns that if the building work goes ahead residents could submit noise complaints against the club, which would ultimately lead to its closure.

The 25,000-strong petition, delivered to Southwark Council, has also been endorsed by a series of big name DJs, including Judge Jules and Armin van Buuren.

"Ministry of Sound has been here for 20 years, leading the way in dance music and becoming a cultural ambassador we should all be proud of,” Example said.

"Why would anyone want to jeopardise that for the sake of luxury flats that do nothing for local people? These developers should know that we won't go quietly."

Ministry of Sound CEO Lohan Presencer was also present to deliver the petition this morning.

A decision about the planned 22-storey development will be made at a meeting of Southwark Council's planning committee on October 11, reports BBC News.
