Singer Etta James is "terminally ill" with leukaemia, it has emerged.
The 73-year-old, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, has now been told by doctors that her condition is incurable, reports CBS News.
The singer, who is best known for her hit songs ‘At Last’ and ‘Stormy Weather, is said to be under 24-hour medical care at her home in California.
Doctor Elaine James, who has been treating Etta, told fans: I am Southern and Christian and would just ask for the prayers of her fans and friends.
In January, it was announced that James had also been diagnosed with dementia.
The US blue singer’s health problems were revealed in court documents filed by her husband Artis Mills.
He said James was no longer able to control her own money, while a doctor said she needed help eating and getting dressed.
Beyonce paid tribute to the singer earlier this year during her headline slot at Glastonbury festival, where she performed a cover of the 1961 classic ‘At Last’
