Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is set to miss his former band's induction into America's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month.
The guitarist, who was a member of the band between 1988 and 1992, before quitting the band after struggling to cope with the pressures of fame, returning in 1998, has chosen not to join the Chili Peppers at the April ceremony.
"He didn't feel comfortable coming, which we totally respect, drummer Chad Smith told Billboard. "We asked him... He said, 'I'm just not really comfortable with that, but good luck and thanks for inviting me.' It was all good.
"He's the kind of guy, I think, that once he's finished with something he's just on to the next phase of his life. The Chili Peppers are not really on his radar right now."
Smith also revealed that other former members of the band would attend the event, honouring the band's 30 year career in music.
