Welsh pop veteran Tom Jones and The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue are set to challenge Simon Cowell as the pair go head-to-head with Britain's Got Talent when they launch The Voice on BBC1 later this month in a Saturday night slot.

The show is a UK version of successful American talent tat, featuring quite famous people teaching slightly less famous people how to be a good singer. The judges also have chairs which spin in circles, which is basically the attraction of the show. Jessie J and Will.i.am also join the show as judges.

Over the past week the internet has been ablaze with gossip after it was announced The Voice would compete with Simon Cowell's talent show Britain's Got Talent in a Saturday night TV slot. Gigwise gave it's verdict on the situation right here.

"Two weeks from now, something new will be on your television. Something so great you'll want to run up and kiss the screen. Just FYI," said the show's official Twitter feed after boasting, "You know when you hear a voice that is so beautiful; so incredible that it gives you goosebumps all over? Yeah, we've got lots of those."

Both shows begin to ruin televison schedules from March 24, 2012.
