Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson has stood up for Lana Del Rey amid ongoing backlash against the US singer.
The singer, who returns with Garbage's first release in seven years, 'Not Your Kind of People' on 4 May, 2012, spoke up for the 'Blue Jeans' star in an interview with Vanity Fair.
"She’s beautiful. She’s really talented. She’s the real deal, and I think that’s threatening to people" Manson told the magazine. "She clearly has an aesthetic and clearly has worked hard before she got to this point in her career.
"She has a past? God forbid, they lambasted her for having a musical past. It’s good she’s failed and she had the wherewithal to try again. Shouldn’t we be applauding her for that?"
Girl Power.
Garbage will also perform at the Troxy in London on 9 May, 2012.
