Axl Rose booed at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose was booed last night (14 April, 2012) at his band's induction into America's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The singer, who announced he would not attend the ceremony earlier this week, was booed when he was mentioned by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. Rose previously announced he did not want to be part of an event where he did not feel 'wanted or respected'. His former bandmates all attended the event.

The 6,000 strong audience are reported to have responded with a chorus of boos when Armstrong asked Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum 'who was missing'.

Armstrong then spoke in support of Rose, adding: "Most singers are crazy, I can vouch for that. He is one of the best front men to ever touch a microphone. Sometimes you have to look back at chapters of your life to move forward."

Axl Rose is the first star to refuse to attend the event since the Sex Pistols did likewise in 2006.
