More about: Deftones
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has admitted he is not a big fan of the dubstep sounds currently working their way into the music of many of his peers.
Dubstep has found a surprising home in rock and metal circles with fans of the more aggressive side of the genre adopting its tropes and bands such as Korn working with producers like Skrillex.
However, Moreno is not going to be taking Deftones down a similar route when they release new album 'Koi No Yokan' in November. Speaking to KROQ about his feelings for the genre, the frontman said:
"I love some electronic music. I'm not a big fan of dubstep but there is so much good electronic music out there."
Speaking about his feelings for electronic music generally, Moreno added: "I grew up in the eighties, that's probably why I like some of the earlier electronic from Kraftwerk to all throughout new wave and things like that. A band like Depeche Mode would go out and record them hitting a trash can with a steel rod or something and recording it. And that would be one of their sounds of the drums. I love the creativeness of that kind of really raw sampling."
As previously reported on Gigwise, Deftones return with their seventh album 'Koi No Yokan' in November and the band have shared 'Leathers' with their fans for free. You can stream the song below, now.
