More about: Body Type
Body Type have been on our radar for a while. Featuring in issue 4 ahead of their 2022 album Everything Is Dangerous But Nothing Is Surprising; their sophomore effort has been highly anticipated at HQ.
And the time has finally come. Expired Candy lands on June 2nd and the Aussie rocks have us hyped for it. Firmly hooked into their Aussie roots, we linked up with the band to learn about the other up and comers from Down Under that we should be paying attention to...
Soph's picks
Snowy - ‘Where Am I?’
One of the best songwriters going. tender and clever, light yet sonically rich. warming and cooling at the same time, whatever you need in the moment, like insulation for your soul.

Honey 2 Honey - ‘Baby’
Weird and oozy and sexy and groovy. and the live show is so transportative too, a bunch of real virtuosos.
MungMung - ‘Main Character’
Confused as to how this isn’t the biggest song in the world tbh. MungMung is gonna be a star.
Sweetie - ‘Liminal Bliss’
My favourite song by my favourite band.
Lottie World - ‘Keep Running’
Sounds like having a little piece of rose quartz in your pocket that only you know is there and giving it a little squeeze when you’re feeling shy to remind yourself that your own company is enough sometimes.
Sunny Morris - ‘My Friend’
A tapestry of truth and vulnerability. A special voice that deserves all the ears of the world.
Annabel's picks
Witness K - ‘In Knots’
This whole record is so beautiful and has a spatial cinematic feeling about it, like it’s scoring your life while you listen. I love all the textures and flute and especially Maeve reading poems in a soft, low voice. Only on bandcamp...
Eternal Dust - ‘Candy’
I think this is sposed to be a selection of songs of artists who are ‘emerging’ but I believe this is the last ED record that will be ever made - so it deserves everyones’ love and instant admission into the cult canon boom boom. Wicked guitar lines.
Wet Kiss - ‘Honey Walks Away’
It’s hard to pick a fav song from this Wet Kiss record but this particular jangly anomaly gets stuck in my head a lot and I think holds hands nicely with Candy.
Spice World - ‘Mountain Pony 20’
This record takes me back to the first time I ever heard dick diver, gives me those homely and pensive feelings. An all-star band & one of those records to live with you through the day.
Optic Nerve - ‘Tonic’
The new optic nerve record ‘Angel Numbers’ kicks and punches and runs around, I love the twanging guitars and when I listen to it I think of singer Jackie blowing up the stage at Jerkfest in Geelong doing gravity-flipping mic stand manoeuvres; they’re a band you gotta see live.
Tex Crick - ‘Peaches and Cream’
Cat’s already outta the bag that Tex is special but I’d just like to reiterate it, and after seeing him play in my hometown recently I got really jacked up on the new songs he played, I can’t wait for a new record. He’s got slick style, on keyboard and off, with a sweet sense of humour running thru all of ‘Live in New York’.
Jonnine - ‘Tea For Two’
Everyone’s already got a HTRK t-shirt but did you know that Jonnine just released a hypnotising solo record that is back 2 back hits in which she nails the minimalist angle of the last HTRK record but spins songs even more gently from day to day snippets? Ya.
Glass Picture - ‘Horses On A Postcard’
This Glass Picture record strikes that magic upbeat-melancholy chord, I love listening to the whole thing on a loop to chug me along in a subdued way.
