Manchester band The 1975 have premiered new track 'Milk', taken from a special EP set for release in America on their upcoming tour. Listen to the track below.

The band will join The Neighbourhood as support on their stateside tour this summer, and turned down support slots with the likes of Rihanna, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and more to do so. 'Milk' will be available on a special 'split' EP which will be only available to buy at the US live shows. The band release their debut album in September 2013, but it is unknown whether 'Milk' will be included on the record.

"We've got our own obligations, so we've got to focus on our own output," said Matt Healy in a recent interview with Gigwise, where he discussed the band's upcoming tour with The Neighbourhood. "We were offered to support Rihanna, Arctic Monkeys, Fall Out Boy, Kasabian, Paramore and 30 Seconds To Mars... We've had to turn them all down. We've got our own things already planned, we've got shows that kids have already bought tickets for."

The 1975 will return to the UK in Autumn for their own headline shows and were also recently added to the Glastonbury line-up.

Tickets are on sale now. For more information, visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.

Below: hotly-tipped bands of 2013 - who's achieved success and who, err, didn't

  • Tom Odell: Since being named winner of the Critics' Choice Award at this year's BRIT Awards, Odell has released three singles (no Top 40 hits) and gone on a date with Taylor Swift. His album is due for release on 24 June, 2013. Verdict? Stay away from Swift, show us what you're made of.

  • Arlissa: We're not totally sure what happened with Arlissa's 'Sticks & Stones'. It was bloody brilliant, but only reached No.48 in the UK charts. We caught her live earlier this year supporting The Neighbourhood in London, and judging by that performance, she has a lot more to come. Verdict? Shaky start, looks great in short shorts, LOADS of amazing songs

  • Icona Pop: Their single 'I Love It' seemed lost in limbo after it was sort-of released in the summer of 2012 - to little or no reaction. However, thanks to a spot on US TV show Girls, the track is now one of the biggest hits of the year in America, and the duo are set to repeat their success in the UK when the track gets a second release in July. Verdict? Proof that with word of mouth, slow burn success is still possible

  • Peace: One of the bands initially charged with revolutionising the music industry and bringing guitar bands back to the forefront of the UK scene, Peace have fast become one of the most exciting new bands in the UK. Building on the hype of their 2012 Delicious EP, debut album In Love scored the band a Top 20 hit and the band will hit the festival scene this summer. Verdict? Not quite a revolution, but an impressive start. The wheels are in motion for greatness

  • Haim: Haim seemed like the most exciting new band on the planet at the start of 2013. Five months later? It's still the same. Despite having released only their 'Falling' single in 2013, the world is still falling for these Californian sisters. Verdict? "The album is coming - and sounds awesome" they promised us recently. We believe them

  • AlunaGeorge: AlunaGeorge told Gigwise in September 2012 that their album was finished. It appears now, that wasn't quite the case. Body Music is released on 29 July, 2013 and the London duo have made an impact on the charts already with Disclosure collaboration, 'White Noise' and own single (No.2), 'Attracting Flies' (No.17). Verdict? Hurry the fuck up and change the world

  • The Strypes: In 2013 alone, The Strypes have been praised by Sir Elton John, performed on Later... with Jools Holland and begun working on their debut album with the man responsible for records by The Beatles and Sex Pistols. Not bad considering none of of the band has yet turned 17. Verdict? See them live to understand why the hype is justified

  • Disclosure: Subjected to crazy amounts of hype at the tail end of 2012 and start of this year, Disclosure have proven excited fans right with critical praised heaped on debut album Settle, which is set for a No.1 hit. Verdict: File alongside The 1975 as one of the big success stories of 2013

  • Chvrches: The Scottish electro-trio are determined to play musical water torture with everyone throughout 2013, drip-feeding fans with flawless pop gems such as 'Recover' and more recently, 'Gun'. Both of which were utterly perfect pop tracks. No album has been announced, which is bloody annoying. Verdict? Playing the long game. The VERY long game

  • King Krule: A nominee in the BBC Sound of 2013 poll, Krule has since released single 'Six Feet Beneath The Moon' and is slowly making his name on the live circuit - and will inevitably be one of the must-see artists of 2013 festival season. Verdict? Check back at the end of the summer

  • Angel Haze: Eclipsed slightly by the success of Iggy Azalea, Angel Haze has emerged as the most credible female rap artist on the scene, even teaming up with Azalea for a cover of Jay-Z and Kanye West's 'Otis' at a London show to prove feud rumours were sheer speculation. Her Rudimental collaboration, 'Hell Could Freeze' was an album standout, and recent track 'No Bueno' was equally brilliant. Verdict? Shunning hit-chasing for credible success. Don't expect an Azealia Banks duet

  • A*M*E: Londoner A*M*E promised a breath of fresh air when she arrived on the scene in 2012, and scored a No.1 hit as the guest vocalist on Duke Dumont's 'Need You (100%)'. She didn't get quite the attention she deserved for the track, but returns later in 2013 with club-influenced solo single, 'Heartless'. Verdict? Despite a chart topping single, A*M*E hasn't taken off as yet. A work in progress

  • The 1975: In 2013, The 1975 have scored two Top 40 hits ('Chocolate' and 'The City'), supported Muse at the Emirates Stadium, been named as support for The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park AND announced their own headline tour at the end of this year. Not bad for a band who were left off most of the big tip lists at the start of 2013. Verdict? The UK success story of 2013

  • The Neighbourhood: Californian band The Neighbourhood have enjoyed moderate success in 2013, having released debut album I Love You to good reviews - and announcing a US tour, supported by The 1975. Verdict? These guys didn't take off quite as quickly as we imagined. We still like them an awful lot

  • Savages: Savages have led a new wave of female rock bands in 2013, with Deap Vally and PINs (among others) snapping at their heels after the Top 20 success of debut album, Silence Yourself. The album was critically acclaimed, and is one to watch when the next wave of music awards roll around. Verdict? Bringing lady-rock back to the mainstream

  • Jagwar Ma: Australia has a long and rich history of first class pop music, and Jagwar Ma are the latest in line to confirm such beliefs. Singles 'The Throw' and 'Man I Need' have gained critical acclaim, and debut album Howlin establishes the band as more than just a Stone Roses-tributing electro band. Verdict? Responsible for one of the summer's big albums. You will hear Howlin A LOT before the end of 2013

  • Laura Mvula: Mvula has found modest success in 2013, scoring a Top Ten album with Sing To The Moon and Top 40 hit with 'Green Garden'. She spoke to Gigwise in early 2013 about her chronic stage fright - but has since announced a number of solo shows and a support slot with Keane. Verdict? Perfectly pleasant, not a bad start to a career

  • Kodaline: Proof that you don't need to make a noise to get yourself heard, laid-back Irish band Kodaline have scored a Top 20 hit with their delicate single 'All I Want' and their debut album, In A Perfect World will be released on 17 June 2013. Verdict? Potential to follow in the footsteps of Coldplay or Keane, Radio 2 stardom awaits
