In one of the most bizarre stories of the year, Home Alone actor Macaulay Culkin's pizza-themed Velvet Underground tribute band has received legal and death threats (albeit tongue-in-cheek) from another pizza covers band. There just ain't enough room for TWO pizza-themed cover bands.
Earlier this month, it emerged that the child actor sensation had formed The Pizza Underground for some reason - changing Velvet Underground songs to be all about pizza. Track titles include 'I’m Waiting for Delivery Man', 'All The Pizza Parties', 'Take A Bite of the Wild Slice' and “Papa John Says' among others.
Now, the band appear to have annoyed San Francisco 'pizza-punk' band Personal & The Pizzas. Personal & The Pizzas famously released the Raw Pie cassette in 2010, complete with a pizza-themed re-imaging of Iggy Pop's iconic Raw Power cover art.
Now, Personal & The Pizzas have responded to the Pizza Underground via eMusic:
"Yeah……………..Here's my fuggin’ review; First we're gonna kill em THEN! we're gonna sue em.
They continued: "DONT MESS WITH THE FUCKIN' PIZZAS, PRICK.
"I CAN REED MOTHERFUCKER
"I CAN REED."
He doesn't seem to realise that Macaulay Culkin will need to be alive to be sued.
Meanwhile, he's 15 minutes of footage of The Pizza Undergound rehearsing and playing their first gig:
As well as Culkin, the other band members are Matt Colbourn, Phoebe Kreutz, Deenah Vollmer and Austin Kilham.
