Vampire Weekend have marked the beginning of 2014 by covering a rather unusual choice of song - the epic classical/opera track 'Con Te Partiro' (also known as 'Time To Say Goodbye'). Check it out below.
Ezra Koenig and co reworked the track, originally sung by Andrea Bocelli, for an upcoming compilation album called Sweetheart, which features classic love songs covered by artists such as Beck, Ben Harper and Fiona Apple.
Koenig's vocals sound mightily impressive in their version of the track. They've also thrown in a reggae beat, which, bizarrely, works. "'Con te Partiro' is one of the greatest love songs of all time," Koenig told Rolling Stone. "Its beauty transcends language. Thank you, Mr. Bocelli, for introducing us to this majestic gem."
