As festival season 2014 comes to an end, it has claimed another casualty - this time, the first ever OxfordOxford Festival.
The inaugural event was due to take place this weekend was due to take place this weekend, with performances from Supergrass' Gaz Coombes, Klaxons, Katy B, Christian Gregory and Celeste, while organisers added there was “an uncertainty with a previously confirmed artist”.
Now, the event that was booked for South Park in Oxford from 26 -28 September has been pulled due to 'poor ticket sales'
A statement from OxfordOxford reads:
"It is with great sadness that we have to cancel the inaugural OxfordOxford. Full refunds will be available to ticket holders from their ticket vendors.
"A number of factors in September, including an uncertainty with a previously confirmed artist, alongside poor local ticket sales, have forced this decision. The whole team, including partners, has tirelessly worked around the clock to try to make the event work, but unfortunately we are not in the position to continue any further.
"We would like to thank Oxford City Council, our official event partners for their time and support over the past two years of planning, especially the Events Department and the Licensing Authority.
"We would also like to thank our media partners Jack FM and BBC Introducing in Oxford for all their support. All of the artists and their teams have been amazing throughout, and we are hugely disappointed that we are unable to give them their shows. Local contractors, ticket vendors, concessions, community groups, clubs and charities who have been involved since its inception have also been fantastic.
"Full refunds on all tickets will be issued by your ticket vendor."
Oxford joins the likes of ATP Jabberwocky, Alt-Fest, Flashback, Rock & Metal Circus, Oxegen and more in UK festivals that have been scrapped in 2014.
