AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has appeared in court in New Zealand, facing charges of attempting to arrange a murder.
Australian born Rudd has been charged with making threats to kill, as well as the possession of drugs methamphetamine and cannabis. The arrest was made after his house in Tauranga was raided yesterday (Thursday 5 November).
It is reported that the 60-year-old rock drummer instigated a plot to hire a hit-man to kill two men. As part of his bail conditions, he is not allowed to be in contact with anyone involved in the murder plot.
He is due to appear in court again on 27 November, where he faces up to 10 years jailtime.
Rudd, a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, was in the classic AC/DC line-up before being kicked out of the band in 1984. He joined again 1994. His recent absence from press shots and video filming has prompted speculation as to whether he is still in the band.
Meanwhile, AC/DC will be releasing their new album Rock or Bust on 1 December - their first without guitarist Malcolm Young who is suffering with dementia.
