Blink-182's Tom DeLonge has, bafflingly, made a direct comparison between streaming music and killing elephants.
The singer's comments come after Taylor Swift pulled all of her music from Spotify in a bid to put a "value to what musicians have created", and thus single-handedly ruining our commute to work.
Speaking to Faster Louder, DeLonge supported Swift's decision: "I tell people condoning streaming is like condoning the Chinese that are killing elephants for their tusks and carving ivory statues.
"It's cool to put on your shelf but if you really think about what you’re doing it sucks. Streaming music is doing the same thing to artists – might not be killing ’em but it’s killing the industry. It might be cool for you as somebody that likes music but you’re not really thinking about the effect it has. We’ve got to value our art, you know?”
Billy Bragg recently took a different stance on Swift's move, saying she had "sold her soul to Google." He subsequently apologised after discovering that her music would not in fact be available on Google's new music streaming service.
