The Strokes have launched a mysterious festive offer in their official webstore which has proven so popular that it appears to have broken their website.
The band's website has been listing assorted special offers over the past few days, including a beanie and a five vinyl boxset. "It’s getting close to the holidays, so we’ve got some online store action for ya. We found some more of these beanies in the basement at Castle Strokes. Check ‘em out before it gets cold. And if you’ve ever been tempted to buy all five records on vinyl, together... "
Most strangely they've posted a picture of a mystery bundle with no further information. "Who doesn't love a surprise? Not you, that's who. You don’t know exactly what you’ll get until it arrives…muahaha."
What this all means is particularly unclear, not least because the 33,000 likes the details have received on Facebook have clearly crashed the site.
It's also inadvertently provoked some fans to question the validity of the entire back catalogue. The phrase "Throw their last album in the trash. the rest are reat" sums up many fans views.
It was recently announced that The Strokes will be headling one of Europe's best festivals, Primavera Sound takes place on the Spanish coast at Barcelona's Parc Del Forum.
Many more acts will be announced in the coming months, but it certainly time to get excited.
