III has become Take That’s sixth studio album to reach the top of the Official Charts, in a marked contrast with former band member Robbie Williams whose new LP has been deemed inelligible to chart.
III is the band's first album as a trio following the departure of Jason Orange back in September and achieved almost 145,000 sales in the last seven days. The band recently announced that their album would not be appearing on Spotify until the new year but would be available on Google Play.
Although the sales figures cannot compare with 2010's Progress (which sold 520,000 in its first week), they are markedly superior to Robbie Williams Under The Radar Volume 1 his surprise collection of rarities that is only available through his own website. Because of this it was deemed ineligible for the official album chart.
Ed Sheeran is in second place (he also topped the single's chart again this week) and AC/DC entered at number three. Hideaway singer Kiesza is one of the rare new entries in this week’s Top 40 with her debut release, Sound Of A Woman at 40.
