Pharrell won three awards at last night's Grammys, made a 'super awkward' speech and played 'Happy' while referencing the shootings of unarmed black men in the US.
The singer was nominated for four awards at the ceremony, and went home with Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video.
He also gave an eerie performance of 'Happy' alongside Hans Zimmer, which opened with the singer speaking the song's lyrics, which were then echoed in multiple languages. What followed has been interpreted as a reference to the recent shootings of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown, as dancers in hoodies held their hands in the air.

His acceptance speech for Best Pop Solo Performance was, as Pharrell repeatedly pointed out, a rather awkward affair. He began, "I'm not gonna make this awkward and long...", then thanked various people and organisations before the music started playing and he concluded, "Thank you guys so much, this is super awkward and I'm gonna moonwalk my way off the stage right now." He then headed the wrong way and had to be forcibly pointed in the right direction.
