Indietronica heavyweights Passion Pit have announced that their new album 'Kindred' will be released on 20 April - and it features Michael Angelakos' signature synthesising, remixing and recycling of sound.
Remaining in the same vein as their previous smash Gossamer, Kindred promises further steps into the realm between abstract, synthetic and natural sound. Much of what appears at first listen to be synth, is in actual fact Angelakos' voice as an instrument in its own right - repurposed and reused, of course.
New track 'Lifted Up (1985)' is reminiscent of Passion Pit's previous work - synthetic and airy in tone, with evident vocal manipulation. However this new track seems to slip firmly into pop, with a bright, optimstic feel fairly dissimilar to the band's original work on Manners in particular.
